Pace bowler Lasith Malinga claimed six wickets – including a hat-trick – as Sri Lanka eased to a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Kenya in the World Cup Group A match played on the 1st of March, 2011.

This is Malinga’s second hat trick in world cups. His other one was against South Africa in 2007. With this performance Malinga became the first bowler in World Cup history to take two hat-tricks.

India posted their second highest world cup total of 370 runs against Bangladesh at Dhaka in the world cup opener on February 19. The highest total posted by India was 413 against Bermuda at Port of Spain during World Cup 2007.

The highlight of the innings was Sehwag’s thrilling knock of 175 runs off 40 balls. This was the fifth highest innings ever in a world cup. The list also features two other Indians- Ganguly’s 183 against SriLanka and Kapil Dev’s special knock of 175 against Zimbabwe that saved the day for India in the 1983 World Cup.
