It is no secret that when Rahul Sharad Dravid embarked on his one day journey, not many cricket pundits believed he could survive the test of time. However, when he walked off the field for the final time in coloured clothing after scoring a typical half-century at Cardiff, his stats read as follows: 10,889 runs from 344 matches inclusive of 12 tons and 83 fifties. For the record, he was the seventh highest ODI scorer at the time of retirement. And for a man who was often ridiculed for his slow batting, he ended up with an impressive strike rate of over 71 and also held the record for the second fastest fifty by an Indian. However, more than numbers, it has been the positive manner in which he went about restructuring his one-day career after a slow start that has ensured him a place among the pantheon of ODI greats.
