England declared on 496 for five in reply to Sri Lanka's first innings 400, a lead of 96, on the final day of the first Test.

The declaration came immediately after Ian Bell, who finished on 103 not out, struck the boundary that took him to three figures. Eoin Morgan was unbeaten on 14. This is the first of a three-match series, with the second Test at Lord's due to start on Friday.
