India win final of Asia Cup 2010
A fifteen year old title jinx came to an end as India won the Asia Cup cricket tournament after beating defending champions Sri Lanka by 81 runs in the final today.

India won the toss and Dhoni decided to bat first. India posted a competitive total of 268 for loss of 6 wickets. Indian team defended the total without much trouble with the seamers producing a scintillating performance. India bowled out the hosts for 187 in 44.4 overs at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. This was India’s first Asia Cup triumph since Mohammad Azharuddin had led them to the title in Sharjah in 1995.

This was the Indian side which did not have Sachin, Yuvraj and Sehwag. So this win is all the more praiseworthy. India have won the Asia Cup for the 5th time after a gap of fifteen years. Imagine this Indian side when the above mentioned players come back into the side. Sri Lanka on the other hand have been simply blown by the late swing of Zaheer khan, Parveen Kumar and the ever smiling Asish Nehra.

Dinesh Karthik was declared the Man of the Match for his knock of 66. However, Shahid Afridi remained the Man of the Series for his two centuries in this Asia Cup.
