BPL to be underway from February 9

On February 9th 2012, the 1st edition of BPL Bangladesh premier League will be played and will finish in 29th of February. The 20day tournament has 6 teams that are arranged to play with each other twice in a round robin and 33 matches will be held in Chittagong and Dhaka.

25 players have made themselves available for the tournament as one team will be allowed to field five foreign players inrrespect to the IPL which had four players.

"The main thing is the Bangladesh players have to be available," Arun Lal, a consultant to Game on Sports, the tournament organisers, and also a former India opener”, told ESPNcricinfo.

Just as in the IPL each team will have a icon player. The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced that the each team will have a icon player like Tamim Iqbal for Chittagong, Mohammad Ashraful for Dhaka, Alok Kapali for Sylhet, Shahriar Nafees for Barisal, Mushfiqur Rahim for Rajshahi and Shakib Al Hasan for Khulna. The players will be paid 5% more than the amount received by the highest paid player of each franchise.

The BPL will be telecast to the new sport channel in Bangladesh whereas arrangements are to be made to telecast in on ten sports as well.  

The supporter of the expect that the players of BPL will be given place in the Champions League Twenty20 by next year.
