Pakistan claim victory over England at Oval

Pakistan beat England by 4 wickets at Oval. England lead the test series by 2-1. Muhammad Aamir was declared man of the match for his 5-wicket haul in England's second innings.

It has been a resilient Pakistan side that has won this game at the Oval. After being shot out for low totals and embarrassed in the opening first two tests, Pakistan have sensationally come back to win this game. One has to give credit to the Pakistani  bowlers who reduced the English side to 94 for loss of 7 wickets on the opening day. From then it was an uphill battle for the English team.

England fought back gallantly today, but a quick 48 from Salman Butt and a calm 33 from Yousuf and Farhat set them on their way. A late twist was in store as England took 3 quick wickets but Umar Akmal and Aamir steered Pakistan to the victory mark.

Pakistan badly needed this win and this now sets up a riveting final test match at Lord's. If they can manage to catch as they did here then they might have a fairly good chance at Lord's. England need to look at ways to counter the threat of Ajmal, Wahab and Aamir. It should be a fighting final game at Lord's.

Muhammad Aamir was declared man of the match for his bowling record and match winning figures of 5/52. Mohammad Aamer became the youngest ever bowler to pick up five wickets in England. Pakistan will now face England in the fourth and final test match at Lord's on 26th August.
