India clinch a narrow victory

India won the first ODI at Rajkot by 3 runs. India scored its highest ever total of 414 for loss of 7 wickets. Sri Lanka chased the target very well but lost 8 wickets till last over. They were able to score 411 runs trailing by 3 runs. Sehwag was declared Man of the Match.

Sri Lanka were on right path to chase the piled-up total of 415 runs. Tharanga and Dilshan started the chase for Sri Lanka. The opening partnership produced 188 runs. Tharanga was the man to go as he was dismissed by Raina. He scored 67 runs of 60 balls. Dilshan and Sangakara are still on crease to boost Sri Lanka to victory mark. Dilshan completed his brilliant century. He is batting on 116 runs of 91 balls. Sangakara has just opened his account of runs and added 16 runs to it. After 26 overs, Sri Lanka are 203 for loss of 1 wicket.

Sangakara and Dilshan continued to produce runs. The third wicket partnership fruited another 128 runs. Dilshan got out after scoring 160 runs. But Sangakara continued the pace of runs from one end. Srilankans started loosing wickets from the other end. After Sangakara's dismissal, no other other player was stable at batting. In the end the team that held their nerve better won it. But SL were awesome as well, almost leaving the Indians shell-shocked with a sensational run chase.
