Mohammad Amir, Pakistani bowler, had been released from a British jail after 3 months on Wednesday. He was sent to jail on a 6 month sentence for his part in a spot-fixing scam.

He was kept in Portland Prison in Dorset, south-west England.

The 19-year-old, then a rising star of cricket world, was one of three Pakistani players jailed by a judge in London in November due to their parts in a strategy to bowl no-balls intentionally during a Test against England at Lord's in August 2010.

Even though he has been freed from the prison, yet he is unable to join cricket as there is a 5 year ban on him being imposed by ICC for his scandalous role.

Asif Bajwa, Amir's mentor, said he was in good spirits.

"What has happened is beyond Amir and when I talked to him on the phone he was in high spirits," Bajwa said, "He will stay in England for the next two weeks to discuss an appeal against the ICC ban."

It has yet to be decided whether Amir can apply for an appeal in the Switzerland based Court of Arbitration for Sports against the ICC ban or not.

Amir's family is earnestly waiting for his return.

"We are happy at his release," said elder brother Ejaz. "He talked to mother and other members of the family and was very happy at his release."
