Shoiab Malik, Former Pakistan captain has been included in the one-day squad against England as he is second to Misbah-ul-Haq according to national selectors.

In an unexpected move which explains the inconsistency of Pakistan cricket, a national selector verified that Shoaib Malik will be called in for one-day squad.

"The feeling is that we should be preparing someone as the next captain whenever Misbah steps down and Malik appears to be the strongest bet," a well-placed source close to the selectors said.

Paradoxically, Malik was dismissed earlier because of his awful performance in the Test series against England late last year.

However, he managed to score good runs in domestic cricket.

The source tipped that Malik is in close contacts with selectors and they have told him to only concentrate on getting runs in domestic cricket and they would do the rest to make sure he gets a place in the team.

"The selectors have had a word with the team management and there is support for Malik to make a comeback for the limited over games against England," the source said.

Malik was regarded as a good captain before the board terminated him after receiving a report of the manager and coach who felt he had an attitude problem and couldn't communicate well with other players.
