Ganguly leads Knight Riders to fascinating victory

The Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets to keep their hopes of reaching the semi finals alive. After this defeat, Rajasthan Royals have been crashed out of the tournament in the group stages.

Rajasthan Royals were restricted to just 132-9. Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a poor start in their run chase losing Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle cheaply inside the first three overs. Kamran Khan struck twice in the space of four balls to put the Royals in charge. He claimed both wickets of McCullum and Gayle.

With such a low total needed the Knight Riders didn't panic as Sourav Ganguly played another classic innings. He scored at low run rate to build a partnership of 111 with Cheteshwar Pujara to lead the home side to victory. Kolkata won the match by 8 wickets.

Kolkata would have ideally liked to have finished this match a little earlier but their NRR receives a slight boost. They still hang in and would depend on a lot of other results to go their way to semi-finals, if they beat Mumbai Indians on Monday.

Unadkat is the Man of the Match for his fine bowling performance. Ganguly gets the 'Kamaal catch' award. Ganguly gets the 'maximum sixes' award.
