AB de Villiers won the toss in his first match as the skipper of South Africa and elected to bat in the first of the five match one-day international series against sri Lanka at Boland Park in Paarl on on Wednesday.
The Proteas went in with left arm spinner Robin Peterson ahead of veteran Johan Botha. Talented all-rounder Albie Orkel also returned to the team sheet after a gap of just over a year.
The inclusion of fast bowler Lasith Malinga and seamer Nuwan Kulasekera have strengthened the bowling department of Sri Lanka.
It’s worth mentioning that none of them were part of the recently concluded test series between the two sides. Spinner Ajantha Mendis also gets a look in.
