Cricket New Zealand has included Mathew Sinclair and Kane Williamson to their 13-man squad to face Australia in the second Test. The Kiwis are attempting to rebound from their first Test defeat.
One of the changes was enforced by the injury to Daryl Tuffey, who broke his hand after being hit by a rising delivery from the fast bowler Mitchell Johnson while making an unbeaten 47 at Wellington.
Kane Williamson has been rewarded for a strong domestic season and New Zealand's selector, Mark Greatbatch believes he deserves an opportunity at Test level. Greatbatch said, "Kane is an exciting young player and has scored a lot of runs in our domestic competition". This is a good chance for Kane to be involved in the team environment. Along with Mathew Sinclair, he gives us various options and balances in the side.
The full squad to face Australia on Saturday 27 March is:
Daniel Vettori (captain), Brent Arnel, Martin Guptill, Peter Ingram, Brendon McCullum, Tim McIntosh, Chris Martin, Jeetan Patel, Mathew Sinclair, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, B.J. Watling & Kane Williamson.
