England have won the series 2-0, taking the second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium today by 9 wickets with 10 overs to spare. Alastair Cook scores a Test century in each match to help England on their way to victory.
Kevin Pietersen and Alastair Cook played with complete confidence and belligerence as they got to the target comfortably. The Bangladesh bowlers were totally depressed as Shakib adopted a defensive approach. None of the bowlers made an impression as Cook reached his 12th test century while Pietersen knocked an aggressive 18th test fifty to end the series on a high.
It was a superb all round performance by England with Swann, Bresnan and Tredwell bowling out their Bangladeshi counterparts by a country mile. The English batsmen were also among the runs and the captain led from the front by becoming the highest run scorer.
Alastair Cook said, "I give full credit to the boys for doing well in difficult conditions". The support of the team has been fantastic and they have cheered us all the way through.
Shakib-al-Hassan said, "We made mistakes at crucial intervals. We did not bat sensibly". Naeem Islam lost his cool and made a mistake. He said that Bangladesh need to work on a lot of areas, but the team has also taken a lot of positives from performance. Bangladesh team is showing firm improvement and look forward to return to series in England.
Shakib Al Hasan has been named the Man of the Match for his all round performance in this match. However, Grame Swann has been named the Man of the Series for consistent performance.
