Brisbane Heat crushed the Sydney Thunder’s hopes of reaching the KFC Big Bash semi finals as it cruised to a comprehensive 91 run victory at the Gabba to move up to fourth in the group table.
Thanks to the manner of victory, Heats have leapt frog above the Melbourne Stars and the Adelaide Strikers and now have improved their chances of finishing in the top four.
Heat will now be hoping the Stars lose against the Strikers and for the Melobourne to lose a close match against the Hobart Hurricanes tomorrow.
Heat will definitely seal the final spot in the semi finals if the results go as planned.
Daniel Christian lead the way for the home side with a quick fire 75 from just 47 deliveries to help the Heat recover after the early loss of Brendon McCullum (6) and Matthew Hayden (60).
Christian smashed five boundaries and four sixes to help the Heat post a total of 195-5 with support coming from Chris Lynn (37), Peter Forrest (33) and Andrew Robinson (25).
