Australia beat West Indies by 125 runs in the fifth and final ODI at MCG. Aussies set a target of 325 for Windies to win. West Indies were all out for 199. Ricky Ponting declared Man of the Series and James Hopes named Man of the Match.
West Indies were all out for 199 resulting in a devastating victory for Aussies. Australia packed series with a clean sweep. Aussies finished with 4-0 victory. This is a top class Australian side who have been right on top of their game all throughout the summer so far and they have managed to stay unbeaten to lift the Commonwealth Bank ODI Series.
They have not only won this game but also they have left a deep scar on the minds of the Caribbeans. Today, the Caribbeans were never allowed to get off to a good start and the Aussie bowlers kept coming hard to make life miserable.
Sammy towards the end batted with a sense of freedom but that was never enough. It was another spirited show by the Aussies and they would now look to strike the Caribbeans in the T20 international matches as well. A couple of Twenty20s are to be played between these two sides and the first of them will take place on the 21st of this month at Hobart.
Ponting has been named the Man of the Series and James Hopes has been named the Man of the Match.
