Surviving an early scare, New Zealand however dominated the batting and won the 1st t20 international in Eden Park
The Zimbabweans batsmen had put up a good score of 160 in the t20 game.
The top order batsmen fell cheaply as the Kiwis were with their back towards the wall for a meek 15-2 before Kane Williamson along with Martin Guptill took the bowlers at their hands scoring 137 runs for the third wicket stand.
Guptill fired 91 quite briskly.
Williamson (48) supported the Kiwi run chase as they cruised victoriously to take a lead of 1-0 against Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabweans lost their one off tests and were thrust upon the walls with a 3-0 loss in the ODI series, faltering yet again in the Eden Park.
